Frequently asked questions
- What can I change?
- The author, copyright, description, software, camera make and model, the date and time taken, and the GPS position. Clear a box and that field is removed.
- What happens to the other tags?
- They are deleted. The editor first removes every old metadata block (EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments, thumbnails and Content Credentials), then writes only the fields you filled. That way nothing you did not choose to keep can leak.
- Is the photo uploaded?
- No. The file is read and rewritten in your browser, and the new copy is handed back as a download.
- Does editing reduce the quality?
- No. The compressed picture data is copied byte for byte. Only the metadata around it changes.
- Which formats work?
- JPEG (.jpg and .jpeg). For PNG, WebP, HEIC or RAW use the metadata remover, which deletes metadata from those formats.
- Is it right to change the date or location of a photo?
- Setting your own copyright or fixing a wrong camera clock is normal. Do not use edited metadata to mislead people about when or where a photo was taken.
