Ogg is a container for Vorbis and Opus audio, used by games, podcasts, messaging apps and voice recorders. Its tags are Vorbis comments: title, artist, album, date, free comments and any custom field, plus the name of the encoder, and sometimes a base64 cover picture. An OGG metadata remover deletes the comment header and copies the audio packets unchanged. Drop an .ogg, .oga or .opus file in the box above to see what it holds.
What an OGG or Opus file remembers
| Where | What is stored | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Vorbis comments | Title, artist, album, date, genre, comment, custom fields | ARTIST=Jane Doe |
| Cover picture | A base64 picture in METADATA_BLOCK_PICTURE | A cover image |
| Encoder | The vendor string and encoder name | Lavf or libopus |
Where the details come from
- Messaging apps can name the sender.
- Recorders add the date and device.
- Encoders write their vendor string.
What the remover deletes, and what it keeps
| Removed | Kept |
|---|---|
| Vorbis comments | The audio packets, unchanged |
| Embedded cover pictures | Sample rate and channels |
| Encoder tags | Length |
How to remove metadata from an OGG or Opus file
- Drop your OGG and Opus files in the box at the top of the page, or choose them from your device. You can add many files at once.
- Press the clean button. Each file shows what was found and removed.
- Read the report. Anything that could still identify someone is listed as remaining, so nothing is hidden from you.
- Download the clean copy. It is deleted from our server within minutes.
Is it safe to clean an OGG or Opus file online?
OGG and Opus files are cleaned on our server, because the work needs a dedicated media tool. The file is held only while it is cleaned and for a few minutes after, so that you can download it, then it is deleted. It is never listed, indexed or shared, and the download link is a secret that only you receive.
Frequently asked questions
Is Opus supported?
Yes. Opus files use the Ogg container and the same comment header.
Does a vendor string remain?
A generic one may, because the format requires it. It names a library, not a person.
Is the sound changed?
No. Audio packets are copied without decoding.
Can I clean OGG and Opus files with the API?
Yes. Send the file to POST /api/v1/clean/audio with your API key and its name in the X-Filename header. It returns the clean file and reports what was removed in the response headers. The MCP server does the same for AI assistants.
How many files can I clean?
Guests and free accounts have a daily allowance and a file-size limit, shown above the drop box. Paid plans raise both. Documents, images, PDFs and audio share one daily allowance.
